The NE Seattle Tool Library, a project of Sustainable NE Seattle, provides free, community access to a wide variety of tools and sustainable resources.

We have been lending tools since our Grand Opening on January 19, 2013.

How To Join

Anyone over 18 is welcome to use The NE Seattle Tool Library, whether you live in NE Seattle or anywhere else in the region. Members are just required to fill out a membership application and a liability waiver, and present a government-issued photo ID to Tool Library staff. Memberships are good for 12-months and can be renewed at any time.

Please take a moment to read the Tool Use Policy (PDF).*

Sign-Up for a Membership It’s easy to sign-up.

1. Create an account at home. Then, if possible, fill out our 2-page Membership Application Form (PDF)*  If you don't have access to a printer, we have copies of this form at the Library front desk

2. Come into the Library. Here we will complete or start your membership Form, Waiver, and verify it with a government-issued photo ID. A volunteer, or one of the Coordinators at the front desk can help you.

3. Make a donation if you are able. Though the Tool Library is FREE to use and membership donations are completely voluntary, they are a crucial part of continuing this community project.

We recommend the following levels:

  • Lifetime: $500
  • Sustaining: $200
  • General Public: $50
  • Student/Senior: $35
  • Other: $____

We accept cash, check, card or contactless donations on-site. You may also make donations via Paypal here.

No qualified applicants will be turned away due to lack of funds and no proof of income is required.

We are currently accepting financial donations to help with costs associated with running the tool library. Such donations are unrelated to membership. Please make checks payable to Sustainable NE Seattle, and mail to:
